‘Latin American Cultures on TikTok’ collects and expands on some of the main takeaways from the Latin American Cultures on TikTok event, which took place on November 8, 2023. The report highlights the insights and experiences of diverse actors, including scholars, creators, and industry professionals. The report also features diverse experiences from within the region and contrasts them with Latin American diasporas in the United States and the United Kingdom. This report is designed to be used by scholars, students, creators and/or industry professionals interested in understanding the opportunities and challenges faced by Latin American influencers and creator industries, considering cultural, regional, regulatory, and commercial aspects. In line with TCRN’s ethos to develop public scholarship, and to partner with industry and community groups to facilitate productive and healthy uses of TikTok cultures, we release this report as an open access resource.
