"Artificial Intelligence" in Switzerland 2024: Knowledge, Use and Attitudes on Generative AI
This report examines how the current technical manifestation of “artificial intelligence” as generative AI based on large language models has been integrated into the everyday lives of the Swiss population and what they think about it.
To understand how these technologies have been adopted, the report answers the following questions: How do people in Switzerland use artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT or Google Gemini in their everyday lives? Who uses them? For what purposes are they used, and how comfortable do users feel using them? How helpful are they? What do Swiss internet users think about these AI tools and their regulation?
As part of the World Internet Project – Switzerland, we collaborated with the Swiss public broadcasting association (SRG) to collect nationally representative data on the use and implications of these AI tools. As part of their repeated “Wie geht’s, Schweiz?” survey that is concerned with the well-being of the Swiss population in various areas of life (politics, personal finances, work, relationships, etc.), the data was collected in May and June 2024.
The results are available in the report and the news release in German and English. The English version of the report will be published soon.
