The Use of Algorithmic Journalism
With software automating the generation of journalistic texts from digital and structured data, journalism and its actors have to face various challenges.
This joint research project of the Department of Communication Studies and Media Research, LMU Munich (Prof. Neil Thurman, Dr. Jessica Kunert) and the Media Change & Innovation Division - University of Zurich (Konstantin Dörr, M.A.) investigates how professional journalists are using and working with this software, and if it fits the standards of traditional news production.
The project is a part of the Freigeist Fellowship of the Volkswagen Foundation on 'Algorithmic News' and a follow-up of the SNF (Swiss National Science Foundation) - funded project on `Algorithmic selection on the Internet’.
